NEED A HAND?
WE'RE ON IT.
We're a small team. Two riders, five kids, two dogs. No support ticket queue, no chatbot, no offshore script reading from a doc. Andrew or Brandy reads every email and answers it from a real keyboard, usually same day, 7 days a week. Weekends sometimes slip a few hours.
▶ EMAIL USWHERE TO DOWNLOAD
Gather Offroad is live on the App Store. One universal install runs on iPad and iPhone. Free, no accounts required to ride, no subscriptions, no ads.
Want a heads-up when new packs drop or a new version lands? Drop your email at the bottom of the home page. One short note when something actually ships, never anything else.
TRAIL PACK WON'T INSTALL
Each pack is a single signed file (~15-25 MB). If a download stalls or fails, work the list:
- Use Wi-Fi for the first download. Cell works but it's slower and less reliable on a busy mountain. Once installed, the pack stays on your device until you delete it. Reinstalling the app doesn't lose your packs.
- Force-quit and reopen. Library → Browse Packs → tap the pack again. Partial downloads pick up where they left off.
- "Signature mismatch" error. Appears when a file corrupted mid-download. Tap install again; the app re-fetches and verifies. If it keeps failing, email us with the pack name. We'll check our side and re-publish if needed.
RIDE RECORDING PROBLEMS
Ride recording needs Always location permission so it keeps capturing breadcrumbs when the screen locks. Settings → Gather Offroad → Location.
Stop is a 1-second hold. That's deliberate, so a knock against the dash on rough terrain doesn't accidentally end your ride. Hold the Stop tile for one second; you'll see a fill animation confirm it.
If a recorded ride looks short or has gaps, GPS lost lock briefly. Canyons, dense canopy, and tunnels all do this. The app resumes recording the moment your signal comes back. Nothing's lost permanently; the gap is just the interval where the satellites couldn't see you.
Big-screen apps eat power. Plug your rig in if you're doing a long day.
TRAIL IS CLOSED, GATED, OR WRONG
Trail data comes from public sources, partner submissions, and rider corrections. Found a closed trail, a gate, wrong name, or mislabeled difficulty? Email us with the pack name, trail name, and what's wrong. We update packs and re-publish, usually within 48 hours. Your install pulls the fix next time you tap "Check for updates" in Library.
HOW TRAIL PACKS UPDATE
Open Library → Trail packs → tap "Check for updates". If a pack has a newer version, you'll see a button to install it. The old version stays on your device until you tap install, so you're never stranded mid-trip waiting on a download. Trail data updates are free.
SIGN-IN AND ACCOUNT
Sign-in is optional. The app works fully without an account. The only reason to sign in (with Apple) is to bring your installed packs over when you switch to a new device.
See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what we collect and don't.
HOW TO DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT
Tap your name in Library → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate. We hold the record for 30 days in case you change your mind. After 30 days it's gone for good.
COMPANION MODE (IPAD ↔ IPHONE)
To pair: open the iPad, Library → Companion Mode → Pair. Open the iPhone, Library → Companion Mode → Pair with iPad → scan the QR. Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi (home, hotspot, or anywhere your phone shares Wi-Fi with the iPad). Once paired, the iPhone automatically reconnects whenever you open it on the same network as the iPad.
BUG REPORTS & FEATURE REQUESTS
Email us. Include device model, OS version, app version (visible in Library → About), and what happened versus what you expected. Screenshots help. We read every one, and the good ideas end up on the build list.
