Glamis (Imperial Sand Dunes)
CA
The largest OHV sand dune system in the United States. Located in California's Imperial County near the Arizona and Mexico borders, Glamis spans 45 miles long and 6 miles wide—approximately 118,000 acres of pure sand dune riding. Unlike trail-based systems, Glamis is open riding—no marked trails, no designated routes. Riders navigate by landmarks, GPS, and visual reference. Season runs October-April; summer is dangerously hot. Recreation permit required ($35-50/week, $150/season).
